Meet Gabby
Gabriela (Gabby) Taveras a first-generation Dominican Afro-Latina born and raised in Lawrence, MA. She is an overcomer who has endured childhood sexual and physical abuse, homelessness, having an incarcerated parent, and poverty. Her life experiences propelled her to give back to her community and inspire others to heal and thrive beyond what’s happened to them. In 2018, she made history by becoming the first black Miss Massachusetts in the Miss America Organization. At the nationally televised competition, she won the STEM Award, Interview Award, and People’s Choice, and finished in the Top 5. She is an award-winning speaker, on-air and live host, content creator, and social impact entrepreneur with a mission of using her influence and ventures as a force for good.

After studying where companies and people have missed opportunities, Gabby decided to be a part of the solution. With her company, Heads Up, Gabby works to give others the “heads up” she wishes she had in life. Whether it’s business, fashion, travel, or life, Heads Up is geared to leave an impression and introduce a new way of life to others.

Gabby has hosted and moderated in-person, on-air, and virtual events nationwide having worked with the largest event planning company in the world. She is an expert at connecting with audiences and creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

Gabby’s extensive life experiences have allowed her to gain insights and invaluable life lessons. Her goal in life is to help others heal, grow, and see themselves as the divine beings they were destined to be. She has spoken at conferences throughout New England and for international corporations.

For over a decade, Gabby has been heavily involved in her community, Lawrence MA. This inspired her to begin her work in diversity, equity, and inclusion where she works to advocate for and bridges opportunity gaps for vulnerable populations. She serves as a member of the Vice President of the Lawrence Prospera Board of Directors and as a member of the City of Lawrence Planning & Development Board.
